The Boy Who Stole Billions? Trailer

Prime Video has released the official trailer for The Boy Who Stole Billions?, Nanette Burstein's documentary series about the rise and fall of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. It premieres on Prime Video on November 30, 2026.

The story

At 30, Bankman-Fried was running a $32 billion crypto empire. Then it collapsed, and he was convicted of stealing $8 billion in customer funds. The three-part series asks whether it was deliberate fraud or a run of risky bets that spiraled out of control, and digs into his inner circle and the pressure-cooker culture at FTX, including his relationship with his former girlfriend Caroline Ellison.

Who's in it

The big draw is Bankman-Fried himself, who tells his side of the story from prison. The series also features never-before-seen interviews with people who helped him build FTX. It lands in the same season as The Altruists, Netflix's scripted series about the same story.

Behind the camera

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Nanette Burstein directs and executive produces. Timothy Moran produces, and the executive producers include Howard T. Owens, Ben Silverman and James Packer. It's made by Amazon MGM Studios with Propagate and West Buttermilk.
