It's the 1980s in Queens. Two brothers chase what looks like a lucrative business opportunity and end up tangled in a Russian mafia scheme, one that threatens their suburban family and tests the bond between them.
Who's in it
Adam Driver plays Gary Pearl, a former police officer, and Miles Teller plays his brother Irwin, an engineer. Scarlett Johansson plays Hester Pearl, and Gavin Goudey and Roman Engel play the family's sons. Victor Ptak plays mob boss Simeon Bogoyavich.
Behind the camera
Gray wrote and directed the film. Joaquín Baca-Asay shot it on 35mm film, and Christopher Spelman wrote the score. Paper Tiger premiered in competition for the Palme d'Or at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in May, where it received a ten-minute standing ovation.
