Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for Jumanji: Open World, the next chapter in the adventure-comedy series and the follow-up to 2019's Jumanji: The Next Level. It opens in theaters on December 25, 2026.
The story
For the first time, the game doesn't stay in the game. Sony bills it as the final installment of the trilogy, and this time Jumanji breaks out of its console and brings its chaos into the real world, flipping the setup of the earlier films, where the players were the ones trapped inside. The series is based on Chris Van Allsburg's book Jumanji.
Who's in it
The avatars are back: Dwayne Johnson as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Jack Black as Professor Shelly Oberon, Kevin Hart as Mouse Finbar and Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, with Nick Jonas and Awkwafina returning too. Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser'Darius Blain and Madison Iseman are back as the real-world friends, alongside Danny DeVito, Rhys Darby, Marin Hinkle, Bebe Neuwirth and Lamorne Morris. New faces include Burn Gorman, Nasim Pedrad, Brittany O'Grady, Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes.
Behind the camera
Jake Kasdan directs and co-wrote the script with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Ben Davis shoots it and Henry Jackman composes the score. The release moved from December 11 to Christmas Day to keep clear of Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three.
