Netflix has released the first official trailer for Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, Greta Gerwig's take on C.S. Lewis. It opens in theaters on February 12, 2027, with IMAX previews from February 10, before streaming on Netflix on April 2, 2027.
The story
The film adapts The Magician's Nephew, published in 1955 as the sixth Narnia book but the first in the story's timeline. In London, young Digory and his neighbour Polly get caught up in the experiments of Digory's Uncle Andrew, who uses magic rings to send them to another world. There they accidentally free Jadis, a sorceress bent on destroying every world in her path, and end up witnessing the creation of Narnia itself.
Who's in it
David McKenna plays Digory Kirke and Beatrice Campbell plays Polly Plummer. Daniel Craig is Uncle Andrew Ketterley, Emma Mackey plays Jadis, the future White Witch, and Carey Mulligan plays Digory's mother, Mabel. Meryl Streep voices Aslan, and Ciarán Hinds also stars.
Behind the camera
Greta Gerwig wrote and directed the film, and produces with Mark Gordon, Amy Pascal and Vincent Sieber-Smith. It's a production of The C.S. Lewis Company, eOne Films, Pascal Pictures and Midnight Road Entertainment, and the theatrical run is Netflix's biggest yet.
Distributed by Netflix in the US and Canada, and by Sony Pictures Releasing International in most other markets.
