Vertical has released the first teaser for Lords of War, the long-awaited sequel to Andrew Niccol's 2005 arms-dealing thriller Lord of War. It opens in theaters on January 22, 2027.
The story
Nicolas Cage is back as Yuri Orlov, the gun-runner he first played more than twenty years ago. This time Yuri learns he has a son, Anton, who has no interest in winding down the family trade. Instead Anton wants to outdo his father, building a mercenary army to profit from America's conflicts in the Middle East, which sets up a dangerous power struggle between the two.
Who's in it
Cage leads opposite Bill Skarsgård as Anton Orlov. Laura Harrier, Sylvia Hoeks and Greg Tarzan Davis round out the cast; their roles haven't been revealed yet.
Behind the camera
Andrew Niccol, who wrote and directed the original, returns to write and direct again. Cage also produces, alongside Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi, with Saturn Films and Vendôme Pictures behind the production.
Distributed in the US by Vertical.
