HBO Max has released the official trailer for The Slightest Touch, a documentary about friendship, grit and one very long run through Dublin. It debuts on HBO and streams on HBO Max on November 25, 2026.
The story
Emma Fogarty was born with epidermolysis bullosa, or EB, a rare and painful genetic condition that leaves the skin so fragile it blisters and tears at the slightest touch. Doctors didn't expect her to reach 40. When she did, she took up an invitation from her longtime friend Colin Farrell to do the Dublin Marathon with him, and he pushed her wheelchair through the final miles. The film follows Emma's life, her refusal to be defined by her illness, and the friendship that got her to that finish line.
Who's in it
This is Emma's story, with Farrell appearing as her friend and marathon partner. Farrell has described the film as a collage of home videos, built from years of footage of their lives together.
Behind the camera
Rachel Fleit, who directed HBO Max's Bama Rush, directs. Producers include Colin Farrell, Claudine Farrell, Trevor Birney, Eimhear O'Neill and Frank Marshall. It was made by Fine Point Films and Chapel Place with The Kennedy/Marshall Company and Screen Ireland, among others, and had its world premiere at the 2026 Dublin International Film Festival before HBO Documentary Films picked up worldwide rights.
An HBO Documentary Films release on HBO and HBO Max.
