Amazon MGM Studios has released the second official trailer for I Play Rocky, Peter Farrelly's film about how a young Sylvester Stallone got Rocky made. It opens in select theaters on November 6, 2026, before expanding nationwide on November 20.
The story
Before Rocky became a Best Picture winner and one of the most loved sports films ever made, it was a script by an unknown actor who was told "no" at every turn. Stallone was determined not only to get his story onto the screen but to play the lead himself. The film follows that fight, from the writing to the production of the 1976 classic.
Who's in it
Anthony Ippolito plays Sylvester Stallone, with AnnaSophia Robb as his wife Sasha Czack and Matt Dillon as his father, Frank Stallone Sr. P. J. Byrne and Toby Kebbell play Rocky producers Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff, and Jay Duplass plays director John G. Avildsen. The original cast are recreated too: Stephan James as Carl Weathers, Kiki Seto as Talia Shire, Robert Morgan as Burgess Meredith and Scot Teller as Burt Young. Tracy Letts and Erik Palladino also star.
Behind the camera
