Tender Loving Care Trailer

Bleecker Street has released the official trailer for Tender Loving Care, the new film from Mike Leigh. It opens in US theaters on December 4, 2026.

The story

Amy, a government child protection worker, moves in with her longtime friend Rosie, a social services officer who faces anger and resentment at work every day. The two women lean on each other at home, while Amy's aging parents, Birdie and Geoff, worry about her happiness and face a crisis of their own when Geoff's health begins to decline. It's a family drama set against the pressures of Britain's social care system.

Who's in it

Kate O'Flynn plays Amy, Alice Bailey Johnson is Rosie, and Marion Bailey and Paul Jesson play Birdie and Geoff. Bríd Brennan, Peter Wight and Tilly Vosburgh are among the supporting cast.

Behind the camera

Mike Leigh wrote and directed. Georgina Lowe produces, Lucy Bristow is the cinematographer and Tania Reddin edited. The film premiered at Telluride in September and went on to play Toronto, the New York Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival. At San Sebastián it won the Golden Shell for Best Film, plus the jury prize for Leigh's screenplay and the Silver Shell for O'Flynn's lead performance. StudioCanal releases it in the UK in February 2027.

Distributed in the US by Bleecker Street.
