The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

I really underestimated how much I was going to like this film, and that's coming from someone who wasn't necessarily looking forward to seeing it. I was confused like everybody else when the press was coming out about Chris Pratt not doing the iconic Mario voice for the majority of the film. I know this upset many people leading up until the release of the film, and I can totally understand why. However, once seeing the film I was kind of relived for the way they handled the voice. In my personal opinion, the voice would have been a little too much and even annoying for the entire film, so I'm glad they did what they did with it.

I was very impressed with the Mario Cart scenes. I think they delivered on the fan service here, and that's an important point to bring up - Fan Service. The world building that they did was excellent. I think this is a not so subtle attempt of making a Mario Universe, and again... If this would have been something that was said to me before seeing this movie I think I would have thrown up with the idea of another franchise/universe. However, by the end of watching the film I wanted more of the Mario Universe. Very fun and great animation from Illumination.
