Suzume (2022)

I had the pleasure of seeing this film in theaters, and if given the chance to do so, don't miss it.

It is an emotional epic journey that traverses all over Japan. Suzume runs into an attractive, mysterious stranger looking for ruins and doors that leads to... somewhere else.

From the trailer I was a little hesitant. The trailer made it seem like the movie was about this girl following around a three legged chair and a cat, which seemed a bit strange to go see in theaters. While that is essentially what is happening in the film, filmmaker Makoto Shinkai develops such a heartfelt and engaging story about tragedy, loss and grief that hits you in your core. The music by Kazuma Jinnouchi and Radwimps carries your heart through the film.

Filmmaker Makoto Shinkai is a master at tugging at the heartstrings of his audience, and he delivers with Suzume. Highly recommend this film.
